Gadsden County jury convicts man in violent Walmart purse snatching

A Gadsden County jury Tuesday convicted a man charged with attacking an elderly woman in the local Walmart’s nail salon and taking her purse, according to the 2nd Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office.

Carlos Cobbs was convicted of armed robbery with a deadly weapon: He struck the woman on the head with a walking stick he took from the sporting goods department, a news release said. A sentencing date has yet to be scheduled.

Here’s what prosecutors say happened: Cobbs entered the Quincy Walmart Sept. 1, 2021, walking around and grabbing clothing and shoes. He eventually changed his clothes without paying for them and grabbed a walking stick…
