Broward Co. woman wins $1 million with the help of the number 1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBS12) — A Broward County woman is cashing in after a trip to a Publix store in Pompano Beach.

The Florida Lottery revealed Tuesday that Mary Mayers Johnson made the trip from Deerfield Beach north to Tallahassee after winning a million dollars in a scratch off game.

Mayers Johnson hit the jackpot when her Winning Number #1 matched the million-dollar prize in the 50X The Cash game. She didn’t drive home with a seven-digit prize, however, opting to take the one-lump sum $640,000 option.

For selling the winning ticket, the Publix at 1140 SW 36th Avenue will get a $2,000 bonus commission…
