TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Valdosta woman has died and a man is critically injured after a crash Tuesday afternoon in Columbia County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
The wreck unfolded at about 1 p.m. along Northwest Lake Jeffery Road, a two-lane paved road in a rural area northwest of Lake City, per FHP. Authorities say a silver Hyundai Elantra was traveling west on the road when it collided with two Valdosta bicyclists traveling in the same direction.
One of the cyclists, a 51-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, per FHP. The other, a 72-year-old man, is being treated at UF Health Shands Hospital for “critical” injuries, as of Tuesday evening. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the wreck, a press release from FHP said…
