13-year-old battling brain cancer sworn in Wednesday as honorary Leon County Sheriff’s deputy

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Leon County Sheriff’s Office gained a new member Wednesday afternoon.

Thirteen-year-old “DJ” Daniel from Houston, Texas, was officially sworn in as an honorary deputy and officer by law enforcement agencies across the Big Bend, including the Leon County Sheriff’s Office.

Local and state leaders, including Gov. Ron DeSantis, attended Wednesday’s special ceremony.
