TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As an area of low pressure churns off the northern Gulf, multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms will be sent across the Big Bend and South Georgia through the weekend and early next week.
The latest model guidance shows that Sunday and Monday are the best days for our area to receive heavy rain. Those rainfall totals could be as high as 4-6 inches. As for the exact location for those higher totals, it is still a wait-and-see situation. The latest American Model (GFS) shows heavier rainfall totals over the Coastal and Eastern counties of the Big Bend and South Georgia.
Meanwhile, the European Model (ECMWF) shows a wide array of higher rainfall totals across most of the region. Some totaling upward of seven inches through Tuesday.
It is important to remember that it is not forecasted to rain nonstop the entire weekend. The total forecasted rainfall is over five days.
WCTV First Alert Chief Meteorologist Mike McCall is tracking the latest forecast and will have more starting at 4 pm on our Livestream page.
