‘A bright shining light’: Loved ones remember cyclist killed in 2023 hit-and-run

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After the man responsible for a 2023 hit-and-run that killed a man was sentenced on Friday, friends and family are now focused on keeping their loved one’s memory alive.

“He cared about people,” Jake Boykin’s mother Kim Boykin said. “He took time to get to know people and their stories. Just a rare gift.”

Boykin was a Florida State doctoral student and national championship cyclist. His father, Ken Boykin, said his son created several meaningful relationships during his short time in Tallahassee…
