Tallahassee State College Approves Groundbreaking Charter School Proposal

At its June meeting, the Tallahassee State College (TSC) District Board of Trustees unanimously approved a charter school application submitted by Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) to open the Innovation Academy of Excellence, a new public charter middle school. The approved application will now be submitted to the Florida Department of Education for final authorization.

The Innovation Academy of Excellence, which will be located on the TSC campus, is expected to open in August of this year. It will serve students in grades six through eight with a strong STEM focus, integrating ethical artificial intelligence tools and personalized learning plans. The middle school will offer high-performing eighth-grade students the opportunity to engage in dual enrollment with Tallahassee Collegiate Academy (TCA), providing early access to high school and college coursework.
