I am not critical of Tallahassee because I hate it, quite the contrary. I am critical of it because I see its unmet potential daily.
Tallahassee has been my home for the last 30 years. My career, my family, and my friends are all here. But take this recent study of “The Most Boring Cities in America”, of which we were dubiously ranked No. 9, and ask yourself “What could we be doing differently?”
The study acknowledges that we have the highest population of young adults (ages 20-34) of any city in the country. Think about that for a moment. We have the largest population of energetic, educated, and entrepreneurial people in the nation. Yet even though we are home to two state universities and a state college, graduates count down the days to when they can leave this city because there is no opportunity for them here…
