Community Fun Day helps law enforcement engage with autism community

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – People filled Maclay Gardens on Saturday for a community fun day, bringing together first responders and people living with autism.

The event was brought to life by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and FSU’s Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (FSU Card).

“We need our first responders in the event of an emergency,” FSU Card Director Cathy Zenko said. “So, to be able to interact and learn from individuals when it’s not a stressful situation really helps when that situation becomes an emergency.”…
