TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on the challenges many underserved communities face when it comes to mental well-being.
Local mental health experts said that mental illness affects people from all backgrounds, but culture, stigma and lack of access often keep these issues untreated. Dr. Fran Close from the Mental Health Council of the Big Bend said that pattern has to change.
“It’s OK not to be OK,” Close said.
