LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – Leon County is under a “Mosquito-borne illness advisory,“ according to the Florida Department of Health, with one probable case of West Nile virus reported in the area.
The advisory comes after multiple Sentinel Chickens tested positive for antibodies to West Nile Virus and Equine Encephalitis Virus in July and August, the Florida DOH’s disease chart shows.
A probable case of West Nile Virus was also reported in the Florida DOH disease chart last week. The case involved a person in the 55-59 age range.
