TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A really nice weekend is on the way for North Florida and South Georgia. Cool in the mornings, still feeling like summer during the afternoon.
Lack of rain is expanding the drought:
Thursday’s update of the Drought Monitor shows an expanding drought across North Florida and South Georgia, which is outlined in yellow below:
Tallahassee is in a rainfall deficit. Five inches below the yearly normal and just about two inches below average for September.
Today marks two weeks without measurable rain in the capital city and much of the Big Bend and South Georgia. We hope to get drops before October and November, because that is typically when we see the least amount of rain across the area. The 14-day stretch is nowhere near the longest stretch without rain, however.
Fall morning, summer afternoon:
Jacket weather this morning with temperatures in the low 60s across North Florida and South Georgia, definitely another morning will feel like fall.
A noticeable warm-up this afternoon, with temperatures reaching the low 90s. A light breeze with winds 5 to 12 mph out of the North and Northeast.
The winds will bring waves up to 3 feet on the Gulf waters this afternoon.
We have some local football too. The weather will be perfect for football this evening:
Sunday repeat:
You will be waking up to temperatures in the low 60s across the Big Bend and South Georgia on Sunday morning. Temperatures will warm to summer-like during the afternoon with highs in the low 90s and low humidity…
