TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – After months of uncertainty, nearly $1 million in federal funding has been released to Elder Care Services, allowing two key volunteer programs to continue in Leon County.
Elder Care Services has received the AmeriCorps Seniors grant since 1991, but the funding was held up earlier this year by the Office of Management and Budget, according to Jocelyne Fliger, president of Elder Care Services.
Without the funding, the organization would have been forced to suspend its Foster Grandparent program, which pairs older adults with children in local schools and daycare centers…
