There are many in our community who feel strongly that Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare should remain an independent community hospital. Others feel strongly that TMH should be integrated into FSU to facilitate the establishment of a full-fledged academic medical center.
While the concept of local control seems appealing on its face, what really matters to most of us when we get sick is access to the highest quality care possible. We have had local control for decades. However, based on Medicare quality data, local control has not resulted in top-tier quality, not even close.
