A 3-2 vote at the Tallahassee City Commission meeting on Sept. 17 initiated a move to end the long-standing interlocal agreement between the city of Tallahassee and Leon County for shared fire services.
The city commission decided to move forward to end the contract following recent disputes over funding management between the county and city. The issue of fire fees, paid monthly by residents, catalyzed the vote.
“This issue would not impact the FSU or City of Tallahassee community at all,” Chairman of the Leon County Commission Brian Welch told the FSView when asked about potential impacts on FSU and the city. “The agreement is for services outside of the City limits, in the unincorporated area.”…
