Tortoise shell helps find lost woman

It’s a good thing Dwayne Hendels has an eye for tortoise shells.

The Apalachicola man, among the many teams of volunteers who took to the Wakulla County woods Friday morning to assist in finding an 80-year-old St. George Island woman who had been missing for more than 40 hours two days, said it was a shell that drew him.

“There was some brush where I couldn’t get through and I was going to go to the right and I looked over and I see this tortoise shell over there,” he said. “So I said ‘I’m going to make my way through there,” and I go that way…
