In the era of spellcheck, there is nothing scarier than verbally spelling out a word like “labyrinth” or “mausoleum.” Florida State’s beloved entertainment venue, Club Downunder (CDU), capitalized on this fear for their event “Spooky Spells: A Halloween Spelling Bee” on Oct. 8.
CDU’s spelling bee was an intimate Wednesday evening event. Students walked into the venue and were greeted with handmade buttons, vividly patterned gift bags and colorful bowls filled with assorted candies.
“[This event] helps break up the tedium of going to classes and stuff,” FSU philosophy major Ajay Vienna said. “Halloween is supposed to be fun and this is fun.”…
