The current head coaching carousel is spinning out-of-control speed right now. And along the way everyone gains some additional insight into specific programs. After LSU’s decision to fire Brian Kelly, everyone quickly learned that Florida State is no longer a serious program.
This notion was already building after two other recent events. First was Penn State’s firing of James Franklin. This was also the first huge domino to fall during the current coaching chaos. The Nittany Lions parting ways with Franklin showed everyone that the game had changed. Patience was a thing of the past and no matter what a coach’s buyout is, nobody’s job is safe.
The second event came eight days later when Florida State released a statement saying that they were “fully committed” to finishing the season with head coach Mike Norvell. That broke the heart of many Seminole fans who were hoping that Norvell would be the next to go. Instead, they have to sit through two more months of pain before the inevitable Norvell firing happens.
