Florida State University (FSU) has announced details about compensatory leave payouts for employees. Unused compensatory leave earned through December 4, 2025, will be paid on the December 12, 2025, paycheck. Employees who want to keep their compensatory leave must submit a Request to Retain Compensatory Leave Form by December 1, 2025.
FSU supervisors can require employees to use compensatory leave instead of having it paid out or carried forward, unless this conflicts with collective bargaining agreements. Employees need prior approval from supervisors to earn or use compensatory leave. When leave is used for reasons other than qualifying sick events, compensatory leave must be used before vacation leave.
Departments should use the FSU_TL_VACHT_W_COMP_BAL query in OMNI HR to track employees who use vacation leave while still having compensatory leave.
