Former treasurer arrested after allegedly stealing over $70,000 from local church

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The former treasurer for a Leon County church was arrested on fraud charges, according to LCSO.

LCSO’s Financial Crimes Unit arrested Marisa Humose, 48, on Monday after an investigation into financial theft and fraud at the church.

In June, the church’s pastor reported financial discrepancies after finding unauthorized transfers from the church’s Cash App account, LCSO said.

Humose served as the church treasurer from June 2022 to June 2025. She had access to the church’s bank and Cash App accounts and was responsible for maintaining financial records…
