On November 3, 2025, Dedario Jermartinez Hunter, 40, of Gretna, was arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) for second-degree murder. The arrest followed a shooting at a memorial service in Gretna on November 1. Authorities say Hunter arrived at the event with a semi-automatic weapon and fired into the crowd. Four people were shot, and one person died. Another person was injured by a vehicle leaving the scene.
The Gretna Police Department requested help from FDLE to investigate. Hunter later surrendered at the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office.
