Gretna Man Arrested in Fatal Memorial Service Shooting

TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has arrested Dedario Jermartinez Hunter, 40, of Gretna, in connection with a shooting at a memorial service on November 1, 2025. Hunter faces one count of second-degree murder, a first-degree felony.

The incident occurred during a memorial for a previous homicide victim. Four individuals were shot, one fatally, and another was struck by a vehicle fleeing the scene. Investigation revealed Hunter arrived armed with a semi-automatic weapon and opened fire into the crowd.

Hunter surrendered at the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office on November 3 without incident. The Gretna Police Department and Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office assisted FDLE in the investigation. The State Attorney’s Office of the Second Judicial Circuit is prosecuting the case…
