LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — A man accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend and her unborn child in Leon County was arrested in Polk County on Wednesday.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said Lakeland police spotted Jha’Kari Martin-Sugrin, 23, that morning.
He had an active warrant out of Hillsborough County on a charge of fleeing to elude after he was accused of fleeing a traffic stop. Deputies arrested him at a home in Eagle Lake at around 11:24 a.m.
At the time of the arrest, Martin-Sugrin was out on bond and wearing an ankle monitor. He was charged with manslaughter (two counts) and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in 2024 after he was accused of fatally shooting his pregnant girlfriend, killing her and the unborn child…
