On December 10, 2025, detectives from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jha’Kari Martin-Sugrin, 23, in Eagle Lake, Florida. Martin-Sugrin was out on bond from Leon County, where he is charged in connection with the 2024 deaths of his pregnant girlfriend and her unborn child. Detectives located him after receiving information from the Lakeland Police Department.
Martin-Sugrin also had an active warrant from Hillsborough County for fleeing to elude law enforcement. After his October 2024 arrest in Leon County, he was charged with two counts of manslaughter and possession of a firearm during a felony. He was released on bond with an ankle monitor. Martin-Sugrin is now in custody at the Sheriff’s Processing Center, awaiting further legal proceedings…
