Leaders aim to break cycle of gun violence, starting in middle school

When a group of about 70 Griffin Middle School students were asked if they know any victims of gun violence, almost every hand shot up.

The boys and girls were called to the school cafeteria Dec. 12, deviating from their regular class schedules. Some students assumed they were all being expelled from school.

Instead, they were met with encouraging words and were introduced to resources to help prevent them from getting to that point…
