Florida Education Commissioner Anastasios Kamoutsas has summoned a Clay County School Board member to explain “discriminatory comments” about African Americans at a State Board of Education meeting Jan. 21 in Tallahassee.
“It’s unclear to me how an individual entrusted with the oversight of educating over 39,000 students in Clay County could speak in such a way,” Kamoutsas told School Board member Robert Alvero in a Dec. 22 letter he tweeted along with video of Alvero discussing difficult interactions with Blacks.
“Your conduct is not only a reflection on you, but if tolerated, also reflects on the other school board members across the state of Florida,” the commissioner wrote, adding “I can only pray that the children of Clay County have been protected from your discriminatory content.”…
