Tallahassee fire claims one life in residential blaze

TALLAHASSEE, Florida — A residential fire on Juanita Way resulted in one fatality late Friday night, according to the Tallahassee Fire Department.

The Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:30 p.m. on January 30. Upon arrival, units found a single-story, 2,000-square-foot residence fully engulfed in flames. Due to the severity of the fire, crews initiated a defensive attack to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.

Three puppies were confirmed to be safely outside the residence at the time of the incident. Responding units included personnel from Stations 1, 2, 9, 10, and 15. TFD received assistance from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, Leon County EMS, Leon County Animal Control, and the State Fire Marshal.
