City commission to vote on sale of 5 acres of downtown Tallahassee for $11M to develop apartment and hotel

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Tallahassee city commission is voting next week on approving the sale of parts of downtown Tallahassee to develop an apartment and hotel, according to the city’s meeting agenda.

The city is voting to sell just over 5 acres of downtown Tallahassee to a developer, 908 Group, for $11M, per the agenda item. The land is labelled as the 2.41-acre “Chevron” block and the 2.68-acre “Johns” block.

The developer plans to build a 239-unit apartment building and a 144-room hotel with a restaurant.

“On November 19, 2025, the City Commission approved staff’s recommendation to market the 2.41-acre Chevron block and the 2.68-acre Johns block for sale through open market solicitation using a City term contract real estate broker,” the city’s agenda item said…
