Tallahassee man pleads guilty to gun charges after park shootout

A 63-year-old Tallahassee man has pleaded guilty in federal court to illegally possessing firearms after two separate incidents, including a daytime shootout at a city park, prosecutors said.

Joseph C. Williams pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida.

Court records show the first incident occurred Nov. 19, 2024, when a police officer stopped Williams for traffic violations while he was riding an electric bicycle on the roadway.
