Former Leon County deputy’s son gets 7 year prison sentence in drug trafficking case

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A Tallahassee man accused of drug trafficking was sentenced in federal court Monday morning.

Federal court records show Garret Culpepper was sentenced to seven years in prison on charges of drug trafficking and possession of multiple firearms in the commission of that crime. The prison term will be followed by eight years of supervised release.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Culpepper entered a guilty plea in January and could have faced up to life in prison on the charges.

Garret Culpepper was indicted in September 2025 along with Sylvia Moore, and his father former LCSO deputy Bill Culpepper and accused of being a part of what federal prosecutors describe as a “large-scale drug trafficking scheme.”…
