Georgia’s dealt with over a dozen player arrests since Kirby Smart took over in 2016, giving the program a reputation it can’t shake, no matter how many championships pile up. The Bulldogs won back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022 and made three national championship appearances this decade. But still get tagged as college football’s legal trouble poster child.
This week proved Georgia can take heat for arrests with zero connection to Athens, Kirby Smart, or anyone wearing red and black. Florida State kicker Conor McAneney was arrested on Wednesday and hit with two third-degree felony charges. Elite College Football broke the news on IG, posting:
“Florida State Kicker Conor McAneney was arrested and charged with a felony. McAneney is accused of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence“. The 20-year-old Irish native also faces a trespassing misdemeanor. His bond was set at $2,750.
