Federal drug case in Tallahassee highlights trafficking concerns near Georgia line

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A Tallahassee man has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for his role in a large-scale marijuana and THC distribution operation, in a case authorities say highlights ongoing drug trafficking concerns across the Florida-Georgia region.

Garret Culpepper, 25, was sentenced after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and to unlawfully possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida. He will serve eight years of supervised release following his prison term and must forfeit cash and property tied to the operation.

Investigators identified Culpepper beginning in 2023 as a significant distributor of marijuana and THC products, including vape cartridges. Authorities said the operation involved thousands of THC cartridges, hundreds of pounds of THC concentrates and large quantities of raw marijuana.

A search of Culpepper’s Tallahassee residence in March 2025 led to the seizure of nearly 34 pounds of THC products, about 15 pounds of marijuana, more than $80,000 in cash, multiple firearms and equipment used to manufacture vape cartridges in bulk…
