Court records: Total of 16 charged in $1.7M property damage fraud scheme, including former state employees

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A total of 16 people have been arrested in connection with an alleged $1.7 million property damage fraud scheme, including state employees.

Officers initially arrested Tallahassee woman Briana McCarthy, who faces a litany of charges, for approving fraudulent property damage claims while she was working as a Risk Management Program Specialist for the Florida Department of Financial Services.

Following those arrests, five more arrests were made, with many being state employees. Then another set of four were arrested in connection with the scheme…
