Patronis calls for Big Tech accountability after lawsuit links ChatGPT to FSU shooting

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — As questions grow about how artificial intelligence should be regulated, a potential lawsuit tied to last year’s Florida State University shootings is fueling renewed calls for federal action.

An attorney for the family of a victim of the April 17, 2025, mass shooting at Florida State University said he plans to file a lawsuit alleging the shooter was in “constant communication” with ChatGPT before the attack and may have received guidance on how to carry it out.
