Florida man sentenced to 27 months for escape from reentry center

TALLAHASSEE, Florida — Trashad Laron Roberts, a 35-year-old from Marianna, Florida, has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for escape.

The sentence follows a jury’s guilty verdict and was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida. “The terms of supervision at a residential reentry center are not suggestions, they are mandatory conditions of an inmate’s prison sentence that are designed to keep our communities safe,” stated U.S. Attorney Heekin. “This defendant willfully disregarded the restrictions placed upon him that were part of his prior sentence, and now he will spend even longer in prison.”

Roberts was previously convicted in September 2020 for possession and distribution of methamphetamine in the Northern District of Florida. He was required to serve four years on supervised release following his federal prison sentence.
