Two Dead, One Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash On SR-39 In Hillsborough County

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A multi-vehicle collision on State Road 39 left two men dead and a third injured on Saturday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:25 p.m. just south of East County Line Road.

State troopers reported that a Subaru SUV was traveling southbound on SR-39 when the driver attempted to pass an uninvolved vehicle. During the passing maneuver, the Subaru entered the northbound lane and struck an oncoming Chrysler minivan head-on.

The impact sent the vehicles rotating across the roadway, where one or both of them collided with a Ford F250 traveling directly behind the Subaru. The Ford truck, which was towing a horse trailer, was driven by a 64-year-old man from Webster. After striking the truck, the crashing vehicles traveled off the roadway before coming to a final stop.

Both the driver of the Subaru and the driver of the Chrysler minivan suffered fatal injuries. Emergency crews pronounced the Subaru driver dead at the crash scene. The driver of the minivan was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Both deceased victims are adult males and their identities have not yet been released…
