Tampa Bay pizza chain settles federal lawsuit claiming owner harassed young female servers

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Tampa Bay pizza chain has settled a sexual harassment lawsuit, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced Thursday.

In the lawsuit, the EEOC claimed that one of the owners of Joey’s New York Pizza and Italian Restaurant, who manages three of its locations, “created a hostile work environment by targeting young female employees, including at least one teenager, with inappropriate sexual behavior.”

The EEOC said when one of the women complained in August 2023, the company “failed to intervene or take appropriate action.”
