Ground stop issued at Tampa International Airport amid severe thunderstorms

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Departing flights to Tampa International Airport were grounded Friday as a round of severe thunderstorms moved through the area.

The ground stop at the airport was in effect from 1:33 p.m. to 4 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Storms moving through Tampa Bay

As of Friday afternoon, there were three cancellations and 161 delays reported at the airport.
