Early start to rain & storms Monday

Elevated rain chances and a low-end flood risk continue Monday for the Tampa Bay area.

Northwesterly winds generated early morning rain and storms for northern counties Monday morning. Scattered storms will track to the south and east throughout the late morning and midday with a 60% chance of rain overall.

Thanks to an elongated area of low pressure across the region, heavy rainfall is possible Monday and could lead to 2-4″ of rainfall in portions of the area. As a result, the Weather Prediction Center has issued a low-end, 1/4 risk for flooding, mainly for coastal parts of the area.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Heat Advisory, active from 11am to 8pm for Citrus County due to feels-like temperatures reaching, or exceeding, 109° Monday…
