TAMPA, Fla. – All southbound lanes on the Howard Frankland Bridge have reopened following an earlier multi-vehicle crash that brought traffic to a crawl, authorities confirmed.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently leading the investigation into the collision, which forced emergency crews to shut down southbound travel across Tampa Bay. Officers from the Tampa Police Department assisted at the scene to manage road closures and divert drivers away from the backup.
While the roadway is now completely open, officials noted that residual traffic delays may linger in the area as congestion clears.
Motorists traveling through the corridor were previously advised to seek alternate routes, such as the Gandy Bridge or the Courtney Campbell Causeway, to bypass the scene…
