TAMPA (WFLA) — A man’s body was found in the middle of a roadway in Tampa last month. Now, Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay is offering a reward for information about those involved.

Just before 6 a.m. on Jan. 18, Billy McGill was found dead on the road at 19th Street and Wilder Avenue in the Belmont Heights neighborhood. Crime Stoppers said he suffered upper body trauma that ultimately led to his death.

Residents of the neighborhood told WFLA it was a shocking morning.

“When I heard what it was, I was like, ‘Oh my God,’ then I cried and I prayed,” said Lisa Austin, who has lived on East Wilder Avenue for a decade.

Neighbors also said they never heard any gunshots and that they believed the victim was dumped on the roadway.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477) for a chance to claim a reward of up to $5,000.
