In a shocking breach of privacy, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has apprehended a Riverview man accused of secretly recording individuals in a unisex restroom. The arrest comes after a disturbing discovery at the Verano Grow Facility, where a hidden cell phone was found beneath a sink, angled to record unsuspecting victims using the toilet.
The unsettling incident came to light on June 30, 2023, when a victim noticed the concealed phone and promptly alerted the authorities. An in-depth investigation by the HCSO detectives led to the retrieval of the device, which was found to contain explicit videos of approximately 17 individuals, capturing them in their most private moments without their consent.
The owner of the cell phone, identified as 27-year-old Christopher Scipio, became a prime suspect in the case. In a desperate attempt to destroy evidence, Scipio falsely reported his phone stolen, hoping to wipe the incriminating data. However, his efforts were in vain as deputies had already seized the phone, securing the evidence of his illicit activities.
