Friends transporting teen with gunshot wounds crash car, flee scene in St. Pete: police

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — Police are investigating an incident where a 15-year-old boy suffered gunshot wounds and was being driven to a hospital by friends before crashing a car and fleeing the scene.

Around 6 p.m. Sunday, St. Pete police responded to reports of shots being fired in the area of Paris Avenue and 6th Street South.

Officials said the boy with gunshot wounds was being driven to a nearby hospital by his friends when they crashed their vehicle at 5th Avenue South and 7th Street South.

The people in the car ran away from the scene.

The boy was taken to the hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives are still investigating where the shooting happened.
