Suspect Who Fired On Deputies In Zephyrhills, Found Dead From Self-Inflicted Wound

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco Sheriff’s Office provided an update on a deputy-involved shooting that occurred this morning in the Ruth Ave. area of Zephyrhills.

Around 6:45 a.m., Pasco Sheriff’s deputies were called to assist the joint U.S. Marshals Service with a warrant service on a subject that is involved in a homicide investigation. The subject is identified as Alfredo Rodriguez, 31.

Around 7:25 a.m., U.S. Marshals Service Task Force members entered the home. Once inside the home, Rodriguez fired at law enforcement.

A Tampa Police Department officer, who is part of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, returned fire.

Members of the task force took up a tactical position after that. PSO patrol deputies then arrived on the scene to provide additional assistance. At that time, Rodriguez fired shots at arriving deputies through a window, and one PSO patrol deputy returned fire.

No law enforcement officers were injured during this shooting. PSO specialty units then responded to the scene to assist.
