Michael Banks, a 42-year-old Tampa Man killed His Mother’s Friend, Injured His Mother and Daughter in Shooting Spree

Michael Banks, a 42-year-old man from Tampa, Florida, stands accused of a violent rampage that culminated in the death of his mother’s friend and injuries inflicted upon his mother and teenage daughter.

The series of events unfolded last Wednesday, followed by a confrontation with law enforcement officers during which gunfire was exchanged.

According to legal documents, Banks penned a letter to his 17-year-old daughter expressing his desire for a romantic relationship prior to the incident.

Allegedly, upon learning of discussions regarding his inappropriate pursuit of his daughter and the possibility of eviction, Banks felt betrayed. In response, he allegedly shot his mother and her friend inside the family home.

Subsequently, Banks allegedly pursued his daughter, firing shots through a bathroom door as she attempted to barricade herself inside.

Although she managed to escape, Banks wounded her leg in the process. After reloading his firearm, Banks engaged in a confrontation with police officers outside, resulting in an exchange of gunfire before he ultimately surrendered and was taken into custody.
