Tropical air lingers with extra high humidity

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – With Tropical Storm Debby still stalled to our north, we feel the tropical air and extra high humidity for the next few days. Heat index values reach 103-109 this afternoon.

Watch for a quick downpour this morning as a rain band or two may still pass through on the southern side of Debby. Most of the rain tapers off this afternoon.

It remains gusty through the day as well, and the waves in the Gulf of Mexico continue to be elevated. Boaters should exercise caution.

An onshore wind flow lingers for the next few days. The wind coming from the Gulf of Mexico keeps it feeling steamy. This pattern also brings the chance for morning showers to push into coastal communities. The showers make their way farther inland by the afternoon.

We stay in this pattern through the weekend. Next week, we transition back to a more classic summer weather pattern with storms developing in the afternoon and evening.
