New Tampa program helps people with home repairs, renovations

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa has a new program to help people repair and renovate their homes.

The City of Tampa’s Community Redevelopment Agency, also known as the CRA, has launched the program for anyone who lives in any of the cities eight CRA districts.

The program can help people repair or replace their roof, do electrical or plumbing work, help homes with heat or air conditioning issues as well as window replacement and ADA improvements.

Rolando Bardaji has lived in his West Tampa home for 25 years and signed up to get help from the program so he could continue living in his house.

“It was able to provide me with a new roof, an addition, which is in the back and painting,” Bardaji said.

Cedric McCray with the City of Tampa said the program is helping people who really need it.

“As long as you are a resident that lives within those community redevelopment areas, you are open to apply,” McCray said.

People who live in the eligible areas must apply in person.

Applications will be available starting Aug. 15 at the TPD District III office, located at 3808 N 22nd St. in Tampa from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
