Round of late afternoon downpours

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Temperatures rise quickly this morning with lots of sunshine. Highs reach the low-mid 90s, and it’ll feel like 105+.

Spotty showers start to develop just after lunchtime, and they increase in coverage through the afternoon. With a breeze from the east, the storms push toward the Gulf of Mexico, and the heaviest rain will be near the coast in the late afternoon.

It’s a similar pattern for the next few days with afternoon storms heading toward our coast, but the coverage will be slightly less to end the week.

Remember, with a saturated ground any areas that get heavy rain may see brief street flooding.

Highs stay in the low 90s through the Labor Day Weekend. Expect classic summer weather with each day starting out sunny and a round of thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. The coverage of those storms should be slightly higher on Monday.

We are watching two tropical waves in the Atlantic right now, but neither has a high chance of developing in the short term.
