Some Floridians Are Losing Their Winn Dixie Stores To Aldi. How Do The Prices For Each Compare?

By now, many Floridians realize that some of Florida’s Winn Dixie stores are being converted to Aldi stores due to Aldi’s purchase of 400 Winn Dixie and Harvey’s stores in 2023. I’ve written about Winn Dixie stores in Panama City, Panama City Beach, Lakeland, Tampa, and Pensacola that are converting. I’ve also written about what shoppers might expect when shopping at Aldi for the first time.

However, many Floridians want to know if you can save money at Aldi so that trying it may actually be worthwhile. Two websites have compared prices on everyday staples between Winn Dixie and Aldi and have determined which is cheaper. Let’s have a look:

Jacksonville.com’s Comparison: In the spring of 2024, Jacksonville.com compared prices on staples like milk, eggs, sugar, ground beef, chicken cutlets, bread, corn, frozen pizza, mac and cheese, cheddar cheese, Coca-Cola, Oreo’s, mayonnaise, Cheerio’s, and Dorito’s among Publix, Winn Dixie, and Aldi stores.

Among the three grocery stores, there was a marked difference. After buying 15 items, shoppers spent $46.28 at Aldi, $60.39 at Winn Dixie, and $67.42 at Publix.
