Khaira, 30, spent this past season with the Minnesota Wild organization. The 6-foot-4 forward played in just one game for Minnesota, posting zero points, one hit, and one block. Instead, he spent most of the season with the Iowa Wild, where he had five goals, 18 points, and a plus-9 rating in 22 games.

Khaira is certainly an interesting player to bring in on an AHL deal, as he has plenty of NHL experience. He has made appearances at the NHL level in each of the last nine seasons, where he has 33 goals, 80 points, and 784 hits in 337 career games. Now, he will look to impress with the Crunch in hopes of landing an NHL contract with the Lightning at some point during the season.

In addition to Khaira, the Crunch also signed Ara Nazarian to an AHL contract and Joel Teasdale to a PTO. Nazarian, 28, spent this past season with the Belfast Giants of the UK’s Elite Ice Hockey League, where he had 18 goals and 33 points in 48 games. As for Teasdale, he had seven goals and 13 points in 65 games for the Iowa Wild.
